We recently were asked to join Zillow as one of their “Premier Agents”. We appreciate the opportunity to meet and assist to meet and assist buyers through Zillow. However, we have come to realize that the “Zillow” form of buying has some significant disadvantages for buyers.
Let me start with some history. Most of our clients over the years have been either past clients or referrals from past clients or friends.
When we first meet a new buyer to us, we start with an approximate one hour meeting, discussing the new client’s needs and goals. We talk about much more than number of bedrooms, etc. We are really trying to understand what they hope for in their new home. Further, we use the meeting to get to know each other, and to give the prospective client the opportunity to determine whether to trust us to help them with their purchase and represent their needs.
In short, we form a partnership, working as a team to help them make one of the most important decisions in their lives.
Unfortunately, the Zillow introduction creates a different situation. Because you have done all your own research prior to choosing homes to see, you don’t get the benefit of our expertise in helping you make the right decisions. Further, and of even more concern, is that because you are often seeing several agents you don’t get the benefit of the partnership we describe above. In fact, you often wind up dealing with a salesperson trying to sell you something rather than your committed agent assisting you in making the best decision.
Our previous clients will confirm that our method of doing business makes much more sense for them. We’d love to show you or any of your friends or relatives this “better” way.
